Latoya Jackson Biography

LaToya took up on music later in life than her brothers, originally she wanted to become a lawyer.


She began her stage career in 1976 as a part of the Jacksons revue show, while doing, among other things, a tap-dancing performance that became an opening act of the show.


In 1979 LaToya signed her first record contract with Polydor and released her
self-titled debut album. LaToya's second album "My Special Love" has been released on the same label in 1980. These both records included songs written & produced by her brothers Randy (My Special Love, Giving You Up) and Michael (Night Time Lover). 3 songs has been co-written by Marlon and Tito Jackson. Plus each album included a song written by LaToya and sister Janet (Camp Kuchi Kaiai, Lovely Is She).


LaToya also sang background vocals on the Jacksons song "This Place Hotel" and on Michael's "P.Y.T.".


In 1984 she switched labels and signed to 'Private I' to release "Heart Don't Lie", that included the US dance hit "Hot Potato". After that she was briefly signed to the UK label 'Streetwave' where she released the single "Oops, oh no" in 1985.


After that LaToya apeared in the Michael Jackson & Paul McCartney video "Say, Say, Say" as well as in Michael's "The Way You Make Me Feel" video clip, starred in the movie "Cry Of The City" and appeared nude in Playboy magazine.


In 1988 she released the album "LaToya" that was mainly produced by Full Force. "LaToya" included the singles "You're Gonna Get Rocked", "You Blew" and "Just Say No", a song with where she supported Nancy Reagans anti drugs campaign.


Next LaToya released a few singles on different labels that belonged more to the category "also-rans". She caused more attention with a scandalous book about her famous family and nude photos.


Lately it became quiet around LaToya but according to a few entertainment news sources she's doing a Las Vegas revue show at present.
