Jackie is the oldest of the 6 Jackson brothers. He actually wanted to become a baseball player, but plans changed as he and his brothers signed a recording contract with Motown Records in 1967. Jackie's function in the group was singing background vocals and dancing.

In 1973 Jackie recorded his first self titled solo album for Motown Records. Besides Michael and Jermaine he was the only Jackson brother that recorded a solo album on Motown.

Together with his brothers, Jackie left Motown in 1976 to sign to Epic Records were they continued recording as The Jacksons. He co-wrote 'Destiny', 'Can You Feel It' and 'Alright With Me' for The Jacksons. Jackie was supposed to share lead vocals on 'Torture', which he wrote, together with Michael on the Victory album. But as Jermaine decided to rejoin his brothers for the Victory album and tour Jackie has been taken out and Jermaine sung his solo part. So you could hear Jackie sing lead vocals just on 'Wait'.

Because of a sports accident he wasn't able to perform live at most of the 'Victory' shows.

(<~~ Jackie's second album) In 1989 Jackie released his second, and so far, his last, solo album 'Be The One' on Polydor Records.

(<~~ Jackie and his song Dealz) In 1989 he teamed up with Tito, Jermaine and Randy to release 2300 Jackson Street. On 2300 Jackson Street Jackie shared lead vocals with Jermaine, among others, on 'If You Only Believe'.

Like all his brothers Jackie will be a part of the upcoming J5 reuinion album.
